Experiencing massive packet loss with Comcast. Let's see if they can straighten this out or if I have to get FiOS :/

Boom. Pics.

Wow, not something I'm used to from them. The Arris modems are having some problems right now though.

I've had both, would get FiOS in a heartbeat if they offered it down here.

FiOS is $50/month for the first year for 20mbps while Comcast is $37/month for 2 years at 50mbps. It's pretty much the only reason I went with Comcast.

Ah, sounds like Comcast has improved since I had them. Their service is amazingly bad though, like they really have to try hard to be as bad as they are.

Yikes. I call them if I drop one out of every 500 or so. Just had them out, as a matter of fact. The place I'm working at now was left with one of those famous temporary contract installs where the line went over some bushes. We buried it. There was a chunk out of the shielding.

But seriously, they better get right on your packet loss. And ping times.

It's expensive to me. I supposedly get double the speed for less from Comcast but we'll see.

My apartment provides internet and it is 10mbps, so it's not bad at all, once in a while it bogs down since it's shared, but surprisingly it's never slowed to a crawl. I've always been able to play youtubes and download big files quickly, so no complaints. I think it might be comcast... Not sure. Could be Charter too. I'll have to do a speedtest to see which comes up, haha.

all kinds of issues today. My DNS server was down this am for 2 hours. WTF. Also I have dealt with packet losses from Time Warner way too many times. Only game for internet in maine though

It's "fixed". We'll see what happens.

We have Comcast here in my office. It was really problematic for a while, but it's been fairly solid for about 6 months now*. We're even getting close to the advertised 100Mbs. The problem got fixed on about the 6th service call when a field tech finally took a look at the signal and noticed a bunch of noise. There was a connector on the outside of the building that was causing it. I suspect it was because that connector was placed so that it got a steady stream of water on it every time it rained. I don't miss those service calls.

* Knock major wood.

Might as well, anyway. Makes life a lot less complicated.

Between those 2 there is a question about leaving Comcast?
